Anna Meyer holds a Master of Music in Flute Performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, studying with Marina Piccinini and a BM in Flute Performance with a minor in German from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where she studied with Bradley Garner, Randy Bowman and Jack Wellbaum. She was also a graduate of the International Meisterkurse für Musik Zürich in 2003 and 2004, has been a semi-finalist in several national competitions, including the National Flute Association Piccolo Artist Competition, the Frank Bowen Young Artist Competition (Albuquerque, NM), and the Flute Talk Competition (Chicago, IL). She is adjunct faculty at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA, where she teaches flute, She is an active substitute for the Erie Philharmonic Orchestra and the Erie Chamber Orchestra, and is the founder and director of Flauto Musicale, a summer music series for flutists of all ages. She was appointed as Second Flutist in September 2008 with the Canton Symphony Orchestra. |
Anna, who often collaborates with organist and husband Erik Meyer, has been active as a soloist in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, New Jersey, and Maryland and was a founding member of the Split Ends Woodwind Quintet, which also concertized throughout Cincinnati. After having won the 1997 United States Air Force Band’s Colonel George S. Howard Young Artist Competition, she performed her solo debut with the Band at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. She has participated in masterclasses with Jill Felber, Keith Underwood, Elizabeth Rowe, Trudy Kane, Michael Parloff, Jim Walker, Jeanne Baxtresser, and Julius Baker, and her other teachers include Toshiko Kohno and Tadeu Coelho.
